Remember Aunt Rose with Fondness

Uncle Walter, Walt & Family, Fred & Family,

It is with heavy heart that I write this, but also with gratefulness for having known such a pleasant person as Aunt Rose. Having come from a large family (8 kids) myself, & (9 sibs on my mom's side, 11 on my dad's), I've been surrounded by a large crowd of relatives my entire life. Having said this, I was often just another face in the crowd. But when I married Robert and became acquainted with Aunt Rose, it was an automatic sigh of feeling accepted and connected. I recall a letter she sent me as a newlywed -- she welcomed me and wrote a litany of kind words. What an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise; I was touched that she would single me out! I'd never even received such warmth from most of my own relatives. Then as Robert & I had children, she sought me out again, maybe not often in a crowd, but always sending greeting cards to our family/personal birthday notes to my kids. These were always surrounded with love and of course the many silly & sweet stickers. It pretty much became her signature trade -- reading the captions she'd write near each sticker to personalize for each card's receiver. She elaborated each note by sending some cash to get a treat from her & Uncle Walter, and always asked how her "little doobies" were doing. At times, she even asked how our four-legged friend was (Buddy). Regardless, she was always curious to learn what was new or adventurous on our side. She even compiled a scrapbook of all the cards, letters, & and pictures we sent her. Who does such a loving act? Aunt Rose, of course. She always remembered to inquire about each one of us, and she will always be remembered by each one of us with fondness as well! Rosey & family
