Beulah L. Leighton (nee Eckert) passed away peacefully on October 13, 2017, embraced by her loving family.
Devoted mother of Laura Tibbles, George (Karen) Leighton Jr, Patricia Reeder, Sandra (Steven) Street and Christine Leighton; cherished grandmother of Emily Titov, Eric Titov, George (Lori) Leighton III, Lauren (Steven) Bizzle, Matthew Leighton, Timothy and Tod Reeder, Stacy (Brian) Kreider, Sean and Shannon Street, Eric (Wendy) Wilson, Marcel Wilson, Isaiah Wilson and Nia Wilson; loving great grandmother of Brittany, Brooke, Kyle, Levi, Piper, Natalyn and Steven, James, Devin, JaNyah and Samara, dear sister of Shirley (nee Eckert) Kuelker, auntie and second mother to Karen Stone
Predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, George J. Leighton; her parents Louis J. and Alma Emilie (nee Von Eschen) Eckert, second mother Ada (nee Green) Eckert; Sisters Dorothea Blankenship, Wilma Henry, Delores Petersen, Alma Roberts, brother William Stickney, daughter Mary Leighton
Beulah was born on October 20, 1931 in St. Louis, MO. She worked in her father’s corner store ‘Eckert’s Food Shop’ in south St Louis before becoming a homemaker and mother of 6. After the passing of her beloved husband George Leighton Sr, she worked outside the home for Bailey Farm Dairy and The Good Samaritan Home before enjoying a long retirement. She was beloved by her family and friends. Beulah was a kind hearted and fun loving woman for whom one never knew what comedy would be uttered from her lips. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral Service Wed., Oct. 18th, 10am at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Tues. 2-8pm, Bopp Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
