Mildred Kunce (Davis)
Mildred Louise Kunce (nee: Davis) passed away peacefully in her home on November 10, 2017 at the age of 97. She has joined her beloved husband, Ralph Waldo Kunce; her talented parents, Andrew Paul and Lula Mae Davis; and dearest brother, Douglas Courtland Davis. She is leaving behind her loving children, Carol (Jim) Connolly, Ralph (Kay) Kunce, Suzanne Malone, Charles (Patrice) Kunce, and Anthony (Mary) Kunce. She cherished her eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was a dearest aunt, cousin and friend.
Mildred was an accomplished woman who was dedicated to her family. She had a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching. She taught Middle School science in the Kirkwood School District for 3 decades. As a young woman Mildred played the upright bass in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. She also played piano and clarinet. As a college senior, she earned her pilot's license as part of a civilian training program prior to World War II. At 83 she achieved a lifetime dream and parachuted from an airplane for the first time. Mildred enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and doll making. Mildred was able to stay in her home until her passing with the aid and dedication of her family and caregivers. She will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11am-1pm with the service following at 1pm, at Bopp Chapel. Interment will be at St. Paul Churchyard, 2600 S. Rock Hill Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123
Memorials would be appreciated in Mildred’s honor to Alzheimer’s Research or the Salvation Army.
