Obituary for Robert King
King, Robert Patrick “Bob” died peacefully in his Kirkwood home on December 6, 2017, with his loved ones by his side. Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church. Devoted husband of Nona (nee Hobbs) for 50 years; dearest father of Stefanie (Justin) Warfield of Los Angeles, Christina (Tarek) El-Mofty of Chicago, Michael (Ruth Orlowicz) King of Brooklyn; and loving “Pop” to grandsons Bowie Warfield, Max and Archer El-Mofty. Dear brother of Tom (Libby) King, Jim (Jane) King, Mary (Jim) Kriegshauser, and Joe (Debra) King. Bob loved his family and was passionate about nature, crossword puzzles, cars and all things mechanical. He will be greatly missed by loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Eleanor and John King and brother John “Fred” King.
Born in Hannibal in 1944, Bob’s family moved to Manchester, Mo., in 1955. He was among the first graduating classes of Parkway High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany 1962-65. Bob and Nona raised their children in Kirkwood where he opened King’s 66 in 1971 and then King’s Sunoco in Maryland Heights. He retired from AAA Automobile Club of Missouri in 2010 after serving 25 years as Emergency Road Service Manager.
Celebration of life service Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society, BJC Hospice or charity of choice appreciated.
