Elizabeth (Betty) Mossinghoff Murney died peacefully in her home on February 19, 2018.
Betty was born in St Louis to John Mossinghoff and Catherine Sanbothe Mossinghoff. Betty grew up in a large and close family with six sisters and three brothers. She attended the Laboure High School, graduating in 1947. She married Richard Glynn Murney in St Louis in 1948. After living in Virginia and Colorado they settled in St Louis in 1960 and raised five children – Mary, Richard (Rick), Kathleen, Elizabeth (Beth) and Peter.
She returned to school in 1978 and received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Missouri State University. She worked at Pacific Place Senior Living Apartments in Webster Groves until retiring. She loved St Louis, especially the botanical garden, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theater of St Louis. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her five grandchildren – Shannon, Andrew, Kayla, Aiden and Molly – and three great grandchildren – Audrey, Gus and Louisa.
In passing, she joins her husband Richard and her siblings Catherine, Mildred, Mary Jane, Helen, Sister Catherine (Edith), Norbert, Wilbur and Robert. She will be deeply missed by her sister Dolores "Lori", her children, grandchildren and friends.
There will be a funeral service at 10:00 on March 10 at Holy Redeemer Church in St Louis. All who knew her are invited to attend. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in a private ceremony.
