William Vickroy
William (Bill) Rees Vickroy,
Surrounded by family William (Bill) Rees Vickroy born 1929 passed away peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2018. Son of Theodore Sessinghaus Vickroy (d. 1971) and Helen Southern Vickroy (d. 1998), brother of John S. Vickroy (d. 2013) and Dorothy Ann Nelson. Beloved husband of Peggy Doolittle, devoted father of Theodore (d. 2018), William Jr. and Nancy. Cherished by relatives in the Vickroy, Clayton, Heffner, Hickman, Nelson, Barrington and Taylor families.

Bill made impressive contributions during his life both professionally and personally. Known for his leadership, keen sense of humor and an avid collector of toy soldiers. Graduate of Webster Groves High School and Cornell University. Served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer during the Korean War. Joined IBM in 1955 as one of the first automation systems marketing executives. Began career at McDonnell Douglas Automation Company in 1965. Was Vice President of International Marketing when he retired in 1989.

Active in the St. Louis community serving as Chairman of the Board of St. Louis ARC, major fundraiser for the YMCA, treasurer of St. Peter’s Episcopal, and tutored children in St. Louis City schools. Bill was an inspiration to his family, leading by example.

Memorial Service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 110 N Warson Rd., Ladue, MO at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2nd. Visitation at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO on Friday, June 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Peters Episcopal Church, St. Louis ARC or YMCA of Greater St. Louis.
