Obituary for Jimmy DeLaet

Jimmy DeLaet
Jimmy C. DeLaet, died peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018 at his home in Kirkwood, Missouri. Jim retired after serving 34 years in the service branch USN.

Jimmy C. DeLaet was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Charlene DeLaet of Kearney, Nebraska, and by his wife Audrey Crue, and daughter Charlene. Father to Kimberly Lindsey, Jacqui DeLaet Skoglund, stepfather to Virginia Conway Scarborough. Jim later married D. Reed.

Jim was a member of the St. Louis Track Club where he won numerous awards, also Trailnet Cyclists, training frequently with St. Louis Senior Recreational Cyclists he frequented the P.E. facilities of St. Louis Community College. He was an avid exercise enthusiast, during his young life he excelled in the area of boxing and fought in the Golden Gloves Championships. Like Cassius Clay/ Muhammad Ali, Jim was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday June 7, 2018, at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd. Kirkwood, Mo. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Louis Chapter of Am. Parkinson Disease Association or veterans organization of your choice.
