Obituary for Robert W. Forbes

Forbes, Robert W., 87, passed away June 7, 2018. A native of Chicago, he was a graduate of St. Philip High School, attended St. Ambrose College, Davenport, Iowa, and completed his education at the College of Advanced Traffic & Transportation Management, Chicago. His employment included the Rock Island Railroad, private industry, and such motor carriers as ETMF Freight Systems and Pacific-Intermountain Express. Twenty years before retirement, he opened his own company, Nationwide Transportation Service. During the Korean War he served with the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Valley Forge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry S. and Margaret M. Forbes, and brothers Harry, John and Richard. Bob is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Natalie (Kocher) Forbes and several nieces and nephews.

Services are Tues., June 12 at 11:00 am at St. Gerard Majella Church, Kirkwood with interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Many thanks to the staffs at Sunrise of Des Peres and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care.
