Alix Johnson, 33, of Webster Groves, MO, passed away on June 9th, 2018. Alix is survived by their partner, Amy Estlund, and daughter, Jude Eleanor Estlund. Alix is also survived by their brother, Adam Johnson (Kristina) of Covington, KY, parents Glenn and Shelley Johnson of Woodstock, GA, paternal grandfather Thomas Johnson of Doraville, GA, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. They were loved and will be missed by all members of Amy’s family including their parents-in-law Mary and Gary Crandall and Tim Estlund (Linda Meis) all of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sarah Estlund (Ben Edwards) of Kansas City, MO, and Tommy Estlund (Bibi) and nieces and nephews of Raytown, MO.
Born April 17, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia, they moved to Fairfield, OH upon the 4th grade with their family and were active in soccer and theater. Alix’s family later moved back to Marietta, GA, where Alix graduated from Lassiter High School and were active in theatre and the LGBT community. Alix has also been involved with the Girl Scouts, AmeriCorps, and Outward Bound.
In 2009, Amy and Alix moved to St. Louis where Alix later graduated from SLU with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Studies and Industrial Psychology, then pursued a career in diversity awareness.
Preceding their death, Alix was the Youth Program Manager at Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP), Board Member of Webster Child Care Center, and active volunteer and leader with the Metro Trans Umbrella Group (MTUG).
Alix will be remembered for their commitment to equality and equity, thoughtfulness, their sense of humor, love of puzzles and games, the Atlanta Braves, artistic and creative endeavors, and being a loving and supportive partner and parent. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PROMO, Metro Trans Umbrella Group, or Diversity Awareness Partnership.
Visitation will be Wed., June 13, from 4-7 pm with sharing of memories at 5:30 pm at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood
