Frederick Houser (Houser)
Fred passed away on June 12, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Bolliger, daughters Sally and Sarah Stevenson, grandchildren Chas and Brian Emmerson, brother Dick (Shirley) Houser, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, daughter Susan, son-in-law Jim Stevenson, and his parents. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Fred and Ruth were married in June 1955 in Detroit, MI. In 1958 they moved to Cedar Rapids, IA where they lived until 1980 at which time they moved to St. Louis. They were married just short of 54 years when Ruth died in 2009. In 2015 Fred married Jane Bolliger. Together they shared their love of bridge, traveling, symphony, theatre and dining.
Fred was a mechanical engineer and worked for Square D, Goss, Pratt and Whitney, and retired from Cincinnati Milacron in 1997.
Fred was an avid bridge player and played with many different bridge clubs. He loved working the daily puzzles in the newspaper. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. When he retired he bought his first MG and loved tinkering on his cars and going on outings and to shows with the MG club, which he continued until the last several years.
One of Jane’s fondest memories were a morning ritual of turning on the Grandfather clock, his saying “Good Morning” and Jane responding “Good Morning” followed by a kiss. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jane. Good bye, Fred.
