Obituary for Susan Turner

Susan Turner
Susan Salsich Baumstark Turner, St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 26th. Beloved wife of Michael Kent Turner. Loving mother of Gary Baumstark (Jennifer Sellenriek), Jeff Baumstark (Courtney Karr), and Sarah Biffar (Boyd Weinstein), and stepmother of Lindsey Turner (James Madsen). Devoted “Susu” to Graham, Walt, Eli, Colton, Henry, Ella, Alex, Sullivan, and Everett. Daughter of the late Pete and Ann Meserve Salsich; sister of Peter Salsich, Albert Salsich, Hamilton Salsich, Barbara Richter, Joe Salsich, Mary Stewart, Catherine Calderon, and Michael Salsich; aunt and friend to many.

Born April 28, 1946 in Webster Groves, MO, Susan attended Holy Redeemer, Nerinx Hall and St. Louis University. She loved growing up in a large family as one of nine children and continued to treasure extended family gatherings throughout her life. Susan made everything a special event--and in turn made the people around her feel special. It might have been helping to organize the Catch a Rising Star Gala, a family dinner or making s’mores with her grandchildren. She was awarded the Guiding Star by De La Salle for her dedication as a board member and as a volunteer in supporting their mission to transform children’s lives through an innovative education at La Salle Middle School.

We were all lucky to be loved by her.

Visitation Wednesday, August 1st, 4-8 p.m. at Bopp Chapel. Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Thursday, August 2nd, 10 a.m., with luncheon to follow in the church meeting room. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to COCA or De La Salle, Inc.
