The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Peggy O'Bannon can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Peggy Shields O'Bannon

Peggy Shields O'Bannon
Peggy Shields O’Bannon, born in 1946, went to meet her maker on July 24, 2018. She moved to Sandestin, FL from the suburbs of St. Louis, MO in 1992.

Her ancestors, General William Percy Shields, Paymaster General of the Confederate Army, and Hannah Shields O’Bannon, qualify Peggy for membership in the Daughters of the Confederacy and the D.A.R. So although a transplant from the Midwest, she had southern roots.

Peg was a member of the Order of St. Luke the Physician and a Stephan Minister. She especially enjoyed her volunteer work at the Waterfront Rescue Mission and Sacred Heart Hospital. She was a caregiver at heart but thought her greatest asset was her sense of humor.

She is survived by her cousins: Charlotte (Garrett) Headrick, Elaine (Robert) Willey, Kris (James) Huang, David Willey, Laura (Ron) DeVries, and a host of extended cousins.

A brief prayer gathering will be held at the Santa Rosa Beach Community Church, 3524 US-98, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. Private services were held in St. Louis, Missouri.
