Obituary for Susan L. Tomich (MacDowell)

Susan L.  Tomich (MacDowell)
Susan L. Tomich died Friday morning, September 14. She died a little over a month after her 73rd birthday and just 3 days prior to her 52nd wedding anniversary. Susan is survived by her husband John, her children Jeff (Elisa) Tomich and Kate Tomich, grandchildren Gabriella and Henry Tomich, and her sister, Patricia Short. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas MacDowell, and her mother and stepfather, Muriel and Al Thro.

Susan was born in Belleville, Illinois and graduated from Belleville Township High School. She attended Belleville Junior College and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and a minor in Art from the University of Houston.

Susan spent more than 40 years living in Houston where she concentrated on raising her children and was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for art, and especially watercolor painting and collage. She also enjoyed reading, taking walks and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

There will be a private celebration of Susan’s life on Sunday, September 23rd. Memorial gifts can be made to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.
