Obituary for Madison Downs Duffey

Madison Downs Duffey
Maddie, resident of Kirkwood, Missouri and Dallas, Texas, dear and beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, cousin, and friend will be missed by all. She suffered a brain aneurysm, a complication from Polycystic Kidney Disease. She was truly one of the strongest and bravest young women to touch our lives.

Maddie was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert and Carla Duffey. She is survived by her parents, brother Jonathon (Kelsey), sister Robyn (Mark Rogers, Fiancé), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Maddie graduated from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri in 2014 and Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business in Dallas, Texas in 2018. Maddie had a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, a Minor in Fashion Media and was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She studied abroad through Southern Methodist University at University College, University of Oxford in Oxford, England. Most recently, she was studying in the Master of Science Accounting program at Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business and would have been CPA eligible in the summer of 2019. She was also serving as an Investments Intern at Peregrine Investments in Dallas, Texas.

Maddie was a member of Chi Omega Sorority (Iota Alpha) and Staff Writer for the Southern Methodist University, Look Magazine. She was baptized, confirmed and a member of Webster Hills United Methodist Church. She loved dancing and was an accomplished dancer in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz and Tap with the Dance Center of Kirkwood for 14 years; participating in numerous performances and competitions, including the Nutcracker Ballet. She was also a member and danced with the Dance Concert Society of Kirkwood and was on the Kirkwood High School Varsity Pommies/Dance Squad. Maddie enjoyed the beach, traveling, fashion, and reading mystery and thriller novels. Most of all, she loved life, her family, and all of her friends.

Our wonderful Maddie’s strength, determination, and courage will remain with us always. All who knew her will truly miss her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bopp Chapel. A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Webster Hills United Methodist Church.
