Obituary for Alice Ann Provaznik (Wade)

Alice Ann Provaznik (Wade)
Alice Ann Provaznik (nee Wade), born in a log cabin in Americus, Missouri was fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the age of 84. She joins her beloved husband the Honorable Richard F. Provaznik Sr. in heaven. Alice was a loving mother to her six children: Christine Provaznik, Richard (Joan) Provaznik, Jr., Dr. David (Dr. Victoria) Provaznik, Dr. Paul (Ivette) Provaznik, Joseph (Martha) Provaznik and Daniel (Michelle) Provaznik. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing and spending time with her cherished grandchildren: Erin, the late Angela, Richard III, and Edward; Dr. David (Allie) Jr., Alex (Binchun Su), Katherine, and Parth Patel; Dr. Jill and Dr. Douglas; Casey (Joseph) O’Brien and Zachary; 2LT Daniel (Anna) II. She was recently overjoyed to see and hold her first great-grandchild Finnegan O’Brien, and excited to hear about another great-grandchild on the way. Alice was the youngest of three sisters and a loving sister and sister-in-law of the late William and Mary Koeger, Joseph and Grace Nitka, and Edward and Melba Provaznik. In addition, Alice positively affected countless others as a dear aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor, volunteer, and motherly figure.

Alice was a woman of great faith and service who always put the needs of others before her own whether it was for her family, friends, community, or her treasured “sweet babies”. She was a tireless volunteer, who over the years generously gave her time and support to organizations she believed in including Little Flower Catholic church and school, Bishop DuBourg High School, the City of Richmond Heights, and St Mary’s Hospital where she was a volunteer and member of the St Mary’s Auxiliary for many years. While volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital, she founded and lead a nonprofit organization, Sweet Babies, to ensure new mothers in need had the necessities to start caring for their “sweet babies” when they left the hospital after giving birth. Helping these mothers and babies was her great passion late in life that gave her purpose. She was incredibly grateful and humbled by all the donors and volunteers who supported her and contributed to the success of Sweet Babies.

There will be a visitation on Friday, November 9th from 4pm to 7pm at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1264 Arch Terrace, Richmond Heights, MO 63117. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 10am at Little Flower Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Sweet Babies, 6420 Clayton Rd, St Francis Hall, Room 263, Richmond Heights, MO 63117, or conduct a kind act for someone.
