Obituary for Debra J. Toney (Crenshaw)

Debra J. Toney (Crenshaw)
Debra Joyce Toney
4/11/53 – 10/23/18

Debbie was born to Earl and Jean Crenshaw on 4/11/53 in Dallas, TX. She has a brother Ken (Rebecca) and a sister Kathy (Scott). After spending her youth in Dallas the family relocated to St. Louis. She attended Parkway West High School and then Southwest Missouri State University. After 3 years at SMS she met the love of her life Mike. They married on June 7th of 1975. In 1980 they had their first child Kimberly, followed by Bryan in 1984 and Clayton in 1988. After being a stay-at-home mom she went to work for the Kirkwood School District in 1991. She truly loved her work and greeted everyone with her patented smile. With her ever-present good natured and positive attitude she wanted to make sure all those potential enrollees and their families knew that Kirkwood was the place to be. Glendale Lutheran was a true love of hers. She always talked about church as "not a church but a family". All of her kids were baptized, confirmed and married at Glendale: Kim/Josh, Bryan/ Lauren and Clayton /Anjanae. She was very proud and honored at some of her participation at Glendale. She was asked to be one of the first women ushers, taught Sunday School and was a Deacon. Always willing to help in any way, she truly loved this church. Her real love came with her five grandkids: Patrick, Kylie, Alayna, Jaxson and Peyton. Known as Grandma Deb, Grammy she shined when those kids were around.

By the Grace of God we were directed to a team of oncologists at Siteman Cancer Center. Dr. Ramaswamy Govindan, DPN Rachel Sanger and NP Laura Lee Franklin cared for her for the last three years. Their caring graciousness and giving hearts went past our expectations and made each step of the journey tolerable. Debbie is now at peace and with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Visitation Friday, Nov. 2, 4-8 pm at BOPP CHAPEL, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Memorial service Sat., Nov. 3, 11:00 am at Glendale Lutheran Church, 1365 N. Sappington, Glendale, MO 63122.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Washington University Thoracic Research – Dr. Govindan.
