Obituary for Donald H. Clooney

Donald H.  Clooney
Clooney, Donald H., passed away in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 25, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He was 88 years old. He is survived by his wife Carol (nee Kaimann) of 57 years, their four daughters Maria (Tim) Gallagher, Cara (John Liberstein) Clooney, Donna (Joe) DeLaPaz, and Melissa (Andy) Minkiewicz. Grandchildren Michael, Anna, and Katherine Gallagher, Max Minkiewicz, and Jake DeLaPaz. Don was the son on Eleanor and Joseph R. Clooney. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph R. Clooney, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and nephew. He was a member of the Missouri Athletic Club for over 50 years.

Don was born in St. Louis, Mo., graduated from Beaumont High School, attended the University of Illinois on a swimming scholarship and graduated with an Accounting Degree. After graduating from the University of Illinois, he was in the Air Force as a Captain and was drafted by the U.S. Water Polo team to play in the 1952 Olympics. After finishing his time in the Air Force, he returned to St. Louis and attended St. Louis University Law School at night on the G.I. Bill. He was a practicing attorney for over 50 years.

Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in Kirkwood. Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 30, 10:00 a.m. at Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 415 Weidman Rd., Ballwin, Mo. 63011. Interment National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. www.boppchapel.com
