Obituary for Kola A. Caswell

Kola A.  Caswell
Kola Caswell was known to her family as “Mommy”, “Granny”, “Kay-ola”, “Aunt Kay”, or “Katie.” She was born May 9, 1932 in Collinsville, Mississippi to Murry, Sr. and Sylvia Tanksley. She was preceded in death by her four siblings: Luna Mae, Osami, Douglas, Ray C; and her daughter, Eileen Caswell Stevenson.

Kola relocated to Missouri in 1955. She was joined in holy matrimony to Roosevelt Caswell, Sr. for 61 years.
Kola was a seamstress at Therma Jack for a few years. She went on to be a supervisor at Footwear Unlimited until she retired in the early 1990’s.
Kola was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Richmond Heights, MO, where she served as a Choir Member, Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and a host of auxiliaries.
Kola departed this life on Thursday, May 30, 2019 after living a family-oriented Christian life.

Kola Tanksley Caswell leaves to cherish her memory: a loving devoted husband, Roosevelt, Sr.; Three loving children: Mary Dixon, Valerie Johnson, and Roosevelt Caswell, Jr.; One son-in-law: Terry Stevenson; Three siblings: Murry Jr. (Eunice); Willar Dean (Aaron deceased); Jessie Rose (Tommy). Eight grandchildren: Montoi Dixon, Javon Dixon, Felicia Hulsey (Demetrius), Kassie Stevenson, Korie Cook (Patrick), Todd Stevenson, Alicia Caswell, Ashley Caswell. 9 great-grandchildren: Kyndal, Genesis, Anthony, Summer Jai, Devyn, Danity, I’la, Greyson, Westyn and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services: Visitation Thursday, June 6th from 9-11 a.m., followed by 11 a.m. funeral service at BOPP CHAPEL, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
