Obituary for Alice Marie Bennett

Alice Marie  Bennett
Bennett, Alice Marie, a loving wife, a dedicated mother and a full-time homemaker peacefully passed away on August 27, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Alice was born on May 28, 1927 in St. Louis, MO. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and High School, graduating in 1945. She married Carl Joseph Bennett on November 27, 1948 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. The two were married for 70 years and had four children.

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl. She is survived by her children Karen (Fred) Niermann, Greg (Lynn) Bennett, Mike (Jill) Bennett, and Michelle (late Steve) Ostermueller ; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Jeff (Alison) Niermann, Lilli, Josh, Audrey; Drew (Kari) NIermann, William, Walter, Tommy; Ryan (Sandrine) Bennett, Victoria; Alicia (Tony) Malik, Riley, Lilah; Claire Bennett, Sam Bennett, Jake Bennett, Meghan Ostermueller, Ryan Ostermueller, and Matthew Ostermueller.

The family acknowledges and expresses its deep appreciation and gratitude to Shirley and Hazel for their loving care while Alice was living in her home as well as the loving, respectful staff at Laclede Groves and the Lutheran Senior Services Hospice team who cared for Alice during her final days.

Services: Funeral Mass Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Brentwood. Burial to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Visitation Monday, September 2, 4-7p.m. at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Missouri, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132 or online at

Alice will be remembered for her joy for life, generous spirit, and warm smile that touched everyone. Our family was truly blessed to share so many special times with mom throughout her life. We will always miss her presence and cherish her in our hearts. We are fortunate to have had our mom with us for such a long time and grateful that she is finally at peace. She was a living example of aging with grace.
