Obituary for Yvonne Juhl (Pfabe)

Yvonne Juhl (Pfabe)
Yvonne Juhl (nee Pfabe)
Asleep in Jesus on Friday, September 13, 2019.

Yvonne was born April 15, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Kort and Henriette Pfabe.

Yvonne was baptized at Messiah Lutheran Church in St. Louis and confirmed and married at Ascension Lutheran Church in St. Louis. She attended Lutheran High School Central in St. Louis and Carthage College in Carthage, Illinois.

She worked at the Food and Drug Administration in St. Louis as an analytical drug chemist, where she met her husband, William (Bill) Juhl, who also was a chemist there.

Yvonne enjoyed travel and visited fifty-one countries. She was a dedicated and skillful family genealogist, and she loved to read. She was active in her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Des Peres, and a long-time member of the choir. She dedicated many volunteer hours at the Alzheimer Association Office. During retirement, Yvonne and Bill continued their farming activity in southeastern Iowa with their partner Bob Galle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her brother Jerrald and his wife Esther Pfabe of Seward, Nebraska; her nieces, Rebecca Pfabe (husband Maury Higgins) of Lincoln, Nebraska; Susan Pfabe Wiggans (husband Scott Wiggans) of Denver, Colorado, and Kristin Pfabe of Lincoln, Nebraska; uncle and aunt, Eldon and Betty Anne Pfabe, of Sarasota, Florida; her uncle Ollie Eckert of St. Louis; and her close and dear friends Bob and Lori Galle.

Yvonne’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff of St. Luke’s hospital for their skillful and compassionate care, and for the spiritual support which the pastors and music director of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church provided during her illness.

The funeral will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 12345 Manchester Road in Des Peres, Friday, September 20th at 2:00 pm.

The visitation will be at Bopp Chapel on Thursday, September 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

The burial will be in Montrose, Iowa, the hometown of her husband, William.

Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association of St. Louis or Music at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Des Peres, MO.
