Obituary for Byron S. Clark

Byron S. Clark
Byron Standish Clark passed away peacefully on November 12, 2019. He was the oldest son of the late Byron and Betty Clark, born on May 15, 1929. He was the cherished husband of the late Frances M. Clark, beloved father of Byron S. (Tami) Clark II and Kathryn A. Clark; loving grandfather to Katie (Tyler) Rideout and Trevor Clark, brother of the late Phillip Clark, and Barbara and David Clark.

Byron was a graduate of Vanderbilt Engineering School, in Nashville, TN. He was tasked to work on projects at MIT of Cambridge, MA in the development of after burners used in jet engines as well as gyro systems used in weapons navigation. After meeting his Frances, on a blind date arranged by his sister Barbara, his life took on true meaning. He and Frances would go on to share the next 65 years, beginning on October 10, 1953. They settled in Owensboro, KY. He began working with General Electric and MPD, retiring after 55 years. He loved hiking, fishing and visiting Kentucky State Parks with his family. He and Fran also belonged to a competitive shooting club. He loved his church, Settle Memorial United Methodist in Owensboro, KY, he and Fran were members their entire married life. He was a dedicated member of Gideons International, where he served for many years. He was awarded recognition as a Kentucky Colonel, by the Governor of Kentucky, for his noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to his community, state and nation.

He was a man that stayed, loved and provided for his family. He spent time with his sweetheart, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He spent time scouting fishing holes in anticipation of taking his Katie and Trevor fishing. He was a good man that leaves a legacy of service. 2 Timothy 4:7, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Visitation on Thursday, November 14, 2019, 10:00 to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service immediately following at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO. Officiated by his friend Pastor Kyle Butler of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. A memorial is being planned in Owensboro, to be announced at a later date.
