Obituary for George Anthony Jost

George Anthony Jost
George Anthony Jost, Sr

Age 91, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sun., Dec. 8, 2019. Dear husband of Mildred (Millie) Jost for 66 years. Loving father of Linda (Greg) Beckmeyer, Pat (Ron) Shelley, Mary (Jerry) Jost/Cosner, Laura (Jerry) Rejko and George (Nancy) Jost, Jr. Proud grandfather of Brian (Cindy) & Tom (Kristen) Beckmeyer, Dave (Abbey) & Allison Shelley, Kevin (Jane), Christina & Kelsey Rejko and Olivia & Andrew Jost. Proud “Grandpa-Great” of Ellie, Bryn, Nora, and Carter. Dear son of the late Joseph and Frances (Grellner) Jost. Dear brother of the late Lorraine (George) LeVa and the late Joe (Fern) Jost. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

George was born in St Louis and orphaned at a young age. He was raised by his loving sister, Lorraine and brother-in-law, George. His niece, Lorraine was like a sister to him. He attended Epiphany Grade School and Southwest High School, then served in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. Upon returning home, he met his wife, Millie, and was happily married and was devoted to his five children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an accountant for nearly forty years at International Harvester Co. He was a very active parishioner at St. Mary Magdalen Church and the Legion of Mary. He loved to tell stories, travel, camp, and play poker with the “Friday Night Prayer Group”, but most importantly, spend time with his family. In 2018, he travelled with other veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to honor his service and sacrifices. It was a very meaningful tribute to his service that he treasured throughout his remaining life.

Visitation Thurs. Dec. 12 from 4 to 8 PM at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood MO 63122. Funeral Mass Fri. Dec. 13 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2618 S. Brentwood Blvd. Brentwood MO 63144 followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 MacKenzie Rd. St. Louis MO 63123. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), P.O.
