Obituary for Kay Sullivan

Kay Sullivan
Mary Catherine “Kay” Sullivan was born Oct. 23rd, 1946 to Girard Munsch,MD and Betty Griesedieck Munsch in St. Louis, MO. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 19th, 2020.

Kay enjoyed a full and adventurous life. She married the love of her life, Michael Joseph Sullivan, on June 5,1970 at Immacolata Church in St. Louis. After a motor cycle riding honeymoon to Door County, Wisconsin, Kay and Mike spent the first years of their marriage in Ohio, before settling in St. Louis. They raised two children, Bryan and Michael Joseph Jr. (Mickey), and enjoy four beloved grandchildren, Liam, Sean, Emerson and Grace.

While Kay held many roles in her life -school bus driver, social worker, realtor, alderwoman and bible study leader, her love of faith, family and friends shone through them all. Kay and Mike loved spending time in Michigan and at their cabin in Calhoun County, IL enjoying the Mighty Mississippi River for many years. Family and friends who enjoyed hospitality at the Sullivan’s Glendale home quickly learned to do things the “Kay way”.

Kay lived for over ten years with Parkinson’s disease and bravely took part in studies and experimental treatments while always maintaining a positive attitude in dealing with such a challenging illness. She lived life to the end joyfully and fully. Kay was an inspiration to everyone she met.

In addition to her immediate family, Kay was much loved by siblings, Mary Lou Convy (George), Paul Munsch (Kathleen), Robert Munsch, MD, and Virginia Nesmith (Charles), her uncle, Msgr. Edmund Griesedieck, brothers-in-law Ed and Phil Sullivan (Jeanine), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to count.

We miss you so much Kay! Help us carry on your amazing faith filled spirit.
