Obituary for Charles Alva Clark Jr.

Charles Alva Clark Jr.
Charles A, Clark Jr. of Kirkwood passed away on March 12, 2020. He was born October 8, 1927 the son of Dr. Charles A. Clark, Sr. and Athena Clark. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Clark.

He served in the Army Air Corps during the 2nd World war from 1946 - 1947, and graduated from Washington University in 1951.

He married Rita (Roettering) in November of 1956 and father to Teresa Denton (Glenn) and the late Charles III. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Andrew (Britt), Adam and Alex, and to newborn great-grandson Charlie.

He was a quiet man, a silent pillar of strength, stable, dependable and always faithful husband. He was happy at home – as he said “keeping the home fires burning while Rita kept the wheels turning”. He loved reading and playing tennis. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

He donated his body to Washington University. Private memorial service will be at Bopp Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midwestern Braille Volunteers, 104 Adams Avenue, Kirkwood, Mo. 63122 or Mercy Health Foundation, Mercy Hospice St. Louis, 615 New Ballas Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.
