Obituary for Ann Nooney Bowen

Ann Nooney  Bowen
Bowen, Ann Nooney, 85 passed away peacefully on March 19, 2020. She was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church.

Ann was proceeded in death by her parents, Gregory Nooney Sr., and Anna (Frein).
Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Stephen F. Bowen, Jr. and their four children, Dr. Mary Beth Yacyshyn (Bruce), Alisa Goessling, Stephen Bowen III (Christine), and Margo Funkhouser (Chad). Ann is survived by 10 grandchildren, Dr. Sara Yacyshyn , Dr. Marianne Yacyshyn, Dr. Gail Y. McRae (Josh), John Goessling III, Annie Goessling, Christopher Goessling, , Stephen Bowen IV , Maxwell Bowen Katie Funkhouser and Libby Funkhouser.

Ann graduated from Villa Duchesne and Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now Boston College).
Ann was very active in the St. Louis community. She volunteered extensively at Villa Duchesne and St. Louis Country Day School, was President of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, was heavily involved with the Fleur de Lis organization, and devoted herself to volunteering at the Missouri Botanical Garden to further her passion for one of her true loves, flowers. Ann was one of the original organizers for their Garden Tours, and served as Chair for the tours for three years. She loved volunteering at the Rose Evenings and various benefits for the Garden, and was President of the Members Board of the Missouri Botanical Garden 1996-1998. Ann had many gardens at the family home, and was frequently stopped by those walking or driving by so that they could see her gardens. Ann loved to cook, and found great joy preparing lavish meals set on beautiful tables for her family.
Ann was a woman of deep faith. She loved attending Mass, and had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Ann was a member of the Sodality of Mary. Ann loved taking care of Steve and all of her children and grandchildren. She was a loyal friend filled with joy and integrity.
Ann will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Martha’s Hands and Mari de Villa.
In lieu of flowers, Masses, donations to the Missouri Botanical Garden or to Villa Duchesne are appreciated.

A private graveside service was held. A memorial Mass will be announced in the near future at Church of the Annunziata.
