Condolence From: Lou Ann Wilcox
Condolence: Dear Toni - I was saddened to learn of Bob's passing. He was always very helpful, kind and fun when we worked together at The Sporting News. He was one of the wittiest and most clever people I've known. I was always impressed by the extent of his love for you and his family. Remember when we went to lunch prior to Tracy going to Mizzou - he wanted to make sure she was ready. What fun memories I have of us going to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame Inductions. My deepest sympathy. I will be keeping you and your entire in my prayers.
Sincerely, Lou Ann Pfeifer

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to you Toni and family. What a blessing to have such a great husband, father, grandfather. Words cannot express grief, only the heart knows the pain. We learn in the journey that our loved ones are always with us. Safe journey Bob on your new adventure!

Condolence From: Don Summerside
Condolence: Bob was the reason that I ended up in journalism. My fraternity brother at the University of Nebraska invited me to answer the phone in the Lincoln (Neb.) Star sports department, jot down the scores and prepare them for publication. Thanks to Bob's quiet wit, wisdom and patience, a part-time job turned into a career. In addition to being a mentor, Bob was a great friend, and I'll always treasure that relationship.

Condolence: Dear Toni,
We have such wonderful memories of Bob, and we feel especially proud of engineering the blind date that brought you two together almost 59 years ago. Bob was indeed a unique and remarkable guy; his old Nebraska friends and former coworkers still trade stories about him. From the detailed and interesting obituary, it is clear that he lived a full and abundant life worthy of celebration. Until that celebration can occur, our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to you.

Condolence: Toni,
Thank you for sharing the marvelous Chicken Man with so many of us. I was a young, often obnoxious, young sports writer, working for Bob. Bless him, he was patient with me -- and others. He probably never realized how much he helped me. Among other things, I learned from him that sometimes you have to smile through hard times.
I can just imagine him with grandkids. Hope you have peace -- and at least a few pets.

Condolence From: Ray Jordan
Condolence: Bob was the most conscientious, meticulous copy editor I ever worked with in my almost 40 years of journalism. He spent long stretches in the Post-Dispatch morgue fact-checking, wrote great headlines and kept office moral on the up with his Donut Days, the 13-run baseball pool and silly word play. But more than that, Bob was a kind and generous soul. On lunch breaks away from the office, he never met a panhandler unworthy of the change in his pocket. 1904 World's Fair Donuts stayed afloat with his business while we sank into sugary temptation. Bob's most negative emotion was a few words mumbled under his breath ... and then back to work. In short, Bob was the model for a co-worker -and a man- to be respected. Condolences to his family.

Condolence: Dear McCoy family,

Even before I finished reading the beautiful tribute, the words that came to mind immediately to describe Mr. McCoy were humble and kind. I'm not sure I ever saw him without his shy smile and those twinkling eyes. A dose (or many doses) of his quiet sincerity is something many people today could benefit from.

Many memories I have growing up in Webster Groves involve your family -- whether as babysitter to Tracy and Tim, and later as housesitter. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
