Obituary for Nancy J. Simpson (Pohlman)

Nancy J. Simpson (Pohlman)
Nancy Jane Simpson -- Received into the arms of Jesus early Sunday morning July 26, 2020.
Wife of Mark, mother of Brian (Lauren), Danny (Lizzie), Adam, and Elizabeth. Daughter of William and Jane Pohlman, sister of Anne Knorr (Bill), and sister of the late John Pohlman. Grandmother of Micah, Noah, Elena, Alexander and Leo. Much loved aunt and niece.
Nancy would be best described as a beautiful life, with a beautiful spirit, exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit as summarized in Galatians 5 – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Her life was defined by selflessness, always serving and ministering to others while expecting nothing in return. She was fiercely devoted to her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her friends.
But what defined her life above all else was her love of and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She knew God’s great gift of salvation by His grace alone in Christ alone and had the assurance of salvation and an eternal future in heaven as a result.
God gifted her with an ability to teach children, and she excelled in her chosen profession as a teacher of first graders. A voracious student of scripture, having studied the Bible from cover to cover many times over the years, she shared her knowledge of God’s Word openly, and was especially passionate about teaching children at her church, at Bible Study Fellowship, and Fun with Faith.
To so many she was a confidante, a prayer warrior, an encourager, a wise-and-discerning-while-still-open-to-teaching kind of soul.
Everyone who knew Nancy had a story about the moment they met her and how they felt so quickly seen and loved. Her name means “full of grace,” and that was certainly true of her spirit, both in how she loved others and in the way she pursued Christ.
She saw the best in each and every person and had a unique way of engaging people that instantly put them at ease. She loved everyone around her with a profound gentleness and fervor.
Nancy’s humility was evident in the way that she never took herself too seriously. She was swift to laugh, had impromptu dance parties, hosted innumerable celebrations for others at her house, and would help her grandchildren make massive messes without a care simply because it brought them joy. She dropped everything to care for her family and friends. She was feisty, she was sweet, she was wise, and she built a beautiful legacy of faith within her family.
Nancy’s favorite verse in the Bible – her life verse – was Ephesians 3:20 - “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” She lived her life fully aware that God had given to her above and beyond, and she lived her life to bring glory to Him. She had the unspeakable joy of hearing from her Lord the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Our good God has given to our family immeasurably more than we could ask for or imagine, and that has certainly been true in knowing our Nancy. She will be missed more deeply than words can express.
A celebration of her life will be held at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, 15037 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, MO. on Wednesday, August 5th at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s honor can be made to Bible Study Fellowship,, so that many others can benefit from learning the Word of God and come to know their Savior as Nancy did. Also, donations can be made to Chesterfield Presbyterian Church,, for the benefit of the youth ministry program.
