Obituary for Jenna Marguerite Jackson

Jenna Marguerite Jackson
Jenna Marguerite Jackson
June 20, 1989 – October 9, 2020

Jenna left us unexpectedly. She was the beloved daughter of Cindy and Ed Jackson, and loving sister of JD Jackson and wife Kendal, adoring aunt of Luke, Lila and Emma Jackson, and special granddaughter to Kay Jackson.

Jenna was born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri. As a child she enjoyed softball, ballet and tap, swimming, and soccer, but her passion was making comedic short videos. Jenna’s family thought she might end up as a writer for Saturday Night Live. Jenna attended KHS and earned a Quill and Scroll Award and an American Society of News Editors award.

After three semesters at Mizzou, Jenna wrote, “After realizing that an education at Hogwarts wasn’t going to suffice, I pursued an education in storytelling, graduating with a BA in film production from Webster University.” Her first big film job was as the Clearance and Product Placement Coordinator for “Widows” directed by Steve McQueen and then she worked as the Assistant to the Executive Producer for the feature film “HALA”.

While living in Chicago, working on the film “Widows”, Jenna had a emergency surgery for a severe ruptured lumbar disc and was diagnosed with CES, a compression of the nerve roots of the spinal cord. After a second emergency surgery after finishing her work on “HALA“ she moved back to St. Louis to deal with the new curve life had dealt her. She tried to find new ways to work through her pain and physical limitations. She was passionate about finding something that she could do to help others and was excited to be attending Logan University to pursue a doctor of chiropractic so that she could practice acupuncture, an additional pain therapy she found helpful trying to lessen her own pain.

Jenna will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her sense of humor and her creativity and determination. Our hearts are broken. We so wish we would have had a magic wand to have waived away her pain.

For safety, a private service will be held at Glendale Lutheran Church. The service may be viewed from their website. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jenna to the CES research.
