Obituary for Warren H. Speiser

Warren H. Speiser
WARREN HENRY SPEISER
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Warren H. Speiser who died peacefully of natural causes in his home, with family, Friday, October 16, 2020 at the age of 97. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 2, 1923, the son of Reinhold and Florence Speiser and brother of Virginia Speiser Rutter. He followed in his father’s footsteps into the dental profession graduating from Washington University School of Dentistry where he also obtained his Masters in Prosthetic Dentistry. While attending Washington University, he met and later married his loving wife of 69 years, Eileen K. Lupo who passed away in October of 2017. Warren served in both the United States Navy during WWII, and later the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Upon leaving the military he took a position as a professor of Prosthetic Dentistry at Washington University’s School of Dentistry. He opened his private dental practice in 1965 and was a devoted and caring practitioner until he retired in 2013. In addition to his D.D.S. and M.S. degrees, he was a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
While his patients and work always took priority, Warren loved the out of doors. Having been raised on Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, he enjoyed boating and fishing. And, while stationed in Alaska, was able to enhance his fishing skills on many a camping trip in the state’s great outdoors. More importantly, Warren was a devoted family man, husband and father. He loved his family above all else and throughout his life showed that devotion with is on-going support, pride in their accomplishments, and his unconditional love.
Warren is survived by his son James Speiser married to Phoebe Speiser of St. Louis; his daughters Sally Speiser and Barbara Kruse married to R. William Kruse of St. Louis; his six grandchildren, Jon Speiser married to Rebekah Speiser of Atlanta, Georgia; Samantha Speiser of St. Louis; Selene Fitzsimmons married to Jon Fitzsimmons of St. Louis; Catherine Kruse married to Michael DiBernardo of St. Louis; Nathan Kruse married to Vanessa Kruse of Tennessee; Lauren Walker married to Alex Walker of North Carolina; three great grandchildren Cillian, Henry and Abram; and his nieces and nephews. The family would like to gratefully thank our friend Charlene Hunt, Mark Weber, and the dedicated staff of BJC Hospice for their compassionate care for Warren. The family will hold a private Mass and graveside memorial. In lieu of flowers, you may honor him by donating to St. Anselm Parish, 530 S. Mason Road, St. Louis, MO 63141.
