Obituary for Victor "Bud" George Clever Jr.

Victor "Bud" George Clever Jr.
Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 and passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Beloved son of the late Victor G. and Maureen Clever (nee Murphy): treasured brother to Margaret (Ty) Sarver, Joe (Anna) Clever, Cecilia (Matt) Strohschein, John Clever and Marjorie (Andrew) Kelly. Loving and goofy uncle to Tori and Ally Sarver, Joe Jr., Maria, Michael and Charlie Clever, Nick, Ryan and Emily Strohschein, Thomas, Elizabeth, MJ, Victor and the late Maureen Kelly. Dear Godfather to Ally Sarver, Joe Clever Jr. and Sally Ackerman. Beloved nephew, cousin and friend to more than we could ever list.
Bud entered the world on May 21, 1972 with a crapped-up heart and larger-than-normal noggin, and the size of his spirit matched the size of his head. Bud’s unique health situation led to his outlook on life: “It’s not the hand you are dealt, but how you play the hand you are dealt.” Bud always wanted everyone to be happy when he was with them, he truly understood and lived “love every neighbor as yourself”.
The list of what he loved was long (the list of what he hated was longer, he wasn’t shy to share his opinions, but here we’ll focus on the list of loves). Bud loved: travel and adventure, fine dining, music and concerts, European football and American football (Chelsea and the Chiefs), summertime, costumes and dressing the part (it was not unusual to find him fully decked out for a holiday-or Tuesday; or with his face painted in his team’s favorite colors), fine clothing, designer duds and Legos, to mention a few. Most importantly, Bud loved and cherished time with his family and friends.
The family has decided not to have a visitation at this time. We are hoping to have one heck of a Celebration of Bud’s Life party in early summer of 2021. The funeral Mass will be private-family only. We very much appreciate your understanding. It will be live-streamed at 11 am on Monday, November 2 at https://www.stclementcatholicchurch.org/
How does one summarize a larger-than-life person like Bud? It’s hard to put into words, but we’ll let one of his favorite bands take the wheel and close us out:
“I’ve seen a lot of sights and I’ve traveled many miles
Shook a thousand hands and seen my share of smiles…
I’m going out in style” -Dropkick Murphys
