Obituary for
Eva Ilene Schrodt (England)
Eva Ilene Marie (England) Schrodt, age 82, lived in Chesterfield, Missouri. She died in her home at 9:45am on October 31, 2020 surrounded by her husband and children.
Eva was born to Lucy and Grantie England on August 11, 1938 in Bethany, Illinois. She married Verle Newton Schrodt on July 30, 1955 in Sullivan, Illinois. In 1956, her first daughter, Mary was born in Champaign, Illinois. Joseph and David were born in 1957 and 1958 respectively in Pennsylvania and Elizabeth followed in 1960. Upon moving to Missouri, Rebecca was born in 1961, Anne in 1962, Margaret in 1964, and Monica in 1968.
Eva lived a full and happy life. When she was just a young girl, she independently chose to study and join the Catholic faith. This strong faith became the foundation upon which she based her life and the lives of her children. Education was also a crucial element of Eva’s life. There was never any question that all her children were going to college. When her youngest daughter, Monica, graduated from high school, Eva also graduated from college with her Bachelor of Art degree in Special Education. She was very proud of this.
Eva had 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, loved all of them, and knew every one of their names. She was afraid of flying across the ocean, but she flew all over the world to be a part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She never missed an opportunity to see grandchildren born; attend school concerts, sports events, graduations, and weddings; go on vacations with her children’s families, and any other every day family activities. Whether at her own home or her children’s homes, Eva was well-known for her baking skills and the top two requested were her cherry pie and the famous Schrodt brownie.
Eva was a people person. She loved everyone and could make friends with everyone from babies to adults. No matter who walked through the door, they were a special guest and she made everyone feel at home. Eva had a green thumb, she could bring a plant back to life and had plants that were older than Monica, the youngest daughter.
Eva was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, as well as, three infant sisters and brother. Survivors include her husband Verle Newton Schrodt, her eight children: Mary (Mark), Joseph (Christi), David (Christine), Elizabeth (Patrick), Rebecca (Dean), Anne (Tim), Margaret (Barry), and Monica (Tony).
